Others | After graduation from University of Tokyo (B.S. Chemistry) I went to Cornell University to obtain Ph.D in chemistry and chemical biology. During my Ph.D I was fully funded by Cornell, including stipend, tuition, and health insurance, with a total of ~$60000/year (which was one of the greatest reason I chose Cornell rather than staying at U.Tokyo). In my graduate work at Cornell, I conducted research on single-molecule. At the use of magnetic tweezers, I could successfully visualized single-polymer growth in real time under a confocal microscope. The result was published in Science, with my name as a first co-author. After obtaining my Ph.D I came back to Japan to work at Toyota Motor Company as a research scientist. There I focused on developing fuel cell materials (ex. catalyst, carbon support, PFSA membrane/ionomer, ink preparation). As mentioned above, I am able to cover a wide range of technical areas. I also believe I could make use of my English skills as well as communication skills. |
